Fortnite Saturday Night Series '21 - Fortnite Tournament Rules

Laurier eSports Live Leagues and Tournaments are recreational events focused primarily on connecting Laurier Students and Community with a shared interest in gaming.


In the spirit of competition, we will be recognizing the playoff champion and runner-up with prizes

  • Finalists $25 Gift Cards


Player Expectations

All players must read and agree to abide by the policies and expectations detailed in the  Laurier eSports Live Player’s Handbook.


The Laurier eSports Live Player’s Handbook includes:

  • Rights and Responsibilities of Captains and players

  • Team Name & Uniform Policies

  • Infractions & Penalties including, but not limited to:

    • Forfeits & Defaults

    • Player eligibility

    • Abuse of Administrator

    • Inappropriate Language or Conduct

    • Smurfing


Players are expected to conduct themselves appropriately and contribute to the development of an inclusive Laurier eSports Live community. Any player found to be engaging in the following will be reviewed for disciplinary action and escalated for review as required.

  1. Express themself in an offensive manner about other players or their actions in the game, regardless of whether they are opponents or team-mates.

  2. Use language, nicknames or other expressions that insult another player’s gender, gender identity, origin, physical ability, sexual orientation, religion or age.

  3. Use language or actions that refer to sexual violence or other violence.

  4. Act in a threatening or violent manner.

  5. Cheat.


Withdrawals and Refunds 

Players may withdraw from a league or tournament prior to the registration deadline and receive a full refund by sending an email request to

Players withdrawing after the first matches are posted will not be eligible for a refund.

Leagues or tournaments that do not receive them minimum number of registrants to operate will be cancelled. All registered players will automatically be issued a full refund



Notifications & Communication

Players must have the Fortnite game and an internet connection.

Cross-Play must be enabled.


All registered players will receive confirmation and tournament details to the email address provided during registration.


All communication during tournament play will be completed on the Laurier Esports Live Discord. Please familiarize yourself with the Laurier platform and your applicable channels.




Captains add each other

The Tournament Schedule will be  displayed on The captains/players Gamertag and Discord ID are displayed when you click on the team name. 

Captains must be able to friend request players and host a game.



Double elimination bracket.



All matches 1 game.


Before the match

The home team captain will be responsible for hosting the match.

NOTE: Home team is the team listed on the left side of the match up at 


The host will invite with the epic id. All games must be played on the East-US.

Players are encouraged to be online and ready for their matches 15 min prior to start time. Teams will forfeit games if they are not ready to play 10 minutes after the posted start time.


Match settings

Fortnite Tournament In-Game Settings:

  • Team Size: 2v2

  • Game Mode: Standard Squads

  • Battle Royale - Eliminations
  • Platform: Cross Play

Notable Rulings:

  • Players may not join their designated side until both Players from each Team have joined the Game.

  • Sabotage/Grief is not permitted.

    • Teaming is allowed. however, players cannot directly cause the death of their opponents. 

    • Examples of sabotage include but are not limited to:

    • Breaking or weakening opponent's built or non built structures or cover by any means.

    • Causing opponents to miss shots or miss opportunities for advancing their scores in any way.

    • Building in front of your opponent.

    • Boogie Bombing your opponent

The use of a boogie bomb on your opponent at any point in the game are subject to disqualification

  • Respawn Vans & Player Cards:

    • Players can use the respawn vans! If they do not have their teammates revive cards they cannot use the respawn van.

    • In the event of a person's player card being glitched into the map, play will continue.

  • Reporting and Rulings:

    • Player must report illegal play such as sabotage to the Moderator on Discord immediately.

    • Moderator will collect information directly and individually from all players involved. Be prepared to provide a detailed description of the incident including important actions leading up to the questioned action.

    • Tournament moderator will communicate a final decision directly to all players. 

    • Decisions are final with no opportunity for appeal during tournament play.

  • Roster changes

    • Prior to tournament players meeting the roster changes are permitted. 

    • Change requests must be directed to the tournament admin and updated at prior to the teams first match.

    • Are not permitted after tournament play begins 

  • Streaming/recording matches and/or taking a screenshot of final scores is recommended to support any complaints or disputes.

Connection issues disrupting play

If a disconnection prevents a player from starting a game or occurs in the first minute of gametime in a game and before a goal has been scored, the disconnected player will have a 5 minute grace period to reconnect and restart the game.

Report connectivity issues to the Tournament Administrator if they are not resolved within 5 minutes for a decision.

Reporting Scores

It is the responsibility of the winning team to post the score at and on Discord.


Top 4 teams will qualify for playoffs.

Semi-Final will be 1 game elimination race.

Final will be 2 games cumulative eliminations.
